Chelsea's Closet

Blue Dress and a Vest

A Sweet Treat

A Cowgirl on the Wiffle Field

Introducing Chelsea Bren and her amazing vintage wardrobe!  Chelsea helped us out by photographing our first two posts on RoV.  She's a genius with the camera and clearly has a keen eye for fashion!  Check out her site here!  During her downtime, when she gets the urge to shop, Chelsea goes straight to her computer and searches for vintage on eBay.  She's accumulated quite a wardrobe for herself while preserving her bank account at the same time.  I asked her what her secret was and it's all about the search parameters.

To buy vintage on eBay here are a few tips from Chelsea:
  • Know your measurements - chest, hip, waste and torso height
  • Set a price range - only search for items in the price range you want to spend that way you won't get tempted to buy items that are too expensive for your budget.
  • Set a time range - If you're looking for instant gratification, only search for items that are expiring within the next two days or 24 hours.  That way you don't have to track the item over a long time period of time.
We chose to shoot Chelsea in Plaza Midwood because of the retro feel of the neighborhood.  You'll recognize Hong Kong Vintage in the background which is a great place to peruse for amazing vintage finds.  We also shot Chelsea in her backyard in NoDa which is converted into a wiffle field!  She makes wiffle look good in her vintage wool Adidas skirt.  What a find!

Happy vintage hunting!

Styling the Basics - Bring it On, Winter!

Fun with Wellies

Show Love

Cha Cha on the Train Tracks

Whooeee, it's turning out to be a nasty winter but it turns out misty fog is an amazing back drop for a fashion shoot!  Lauren nailed the shots! I know those sweat pants and sweat shirts are tempting this time of year.  That's why I wanted to provide a little winter inspiration showcasing boots, jackets, scarves and even a festive skirt all pulled from my closet and all appropriate come rain or shine.  Every winter I take out all of my scarves and hats and throw them in a big bin right beside my closet.  The easy access bin makes it simple to change up my scarf or hat on a daily basis.  If I kept them hidden in my closet, I'd go all winter just wearing one or two.  Typical out of sight out of mind.  With the bin I love being able to integrate all of the colorful scarves and hats I've collected over the years with my basic sweaters and jeans. They're the perfect and sometimes only winter accessories appropriate.

We've once again showcased the NoDa neighborhood as the background for all of the shots in this post.  Several of the items worn are from local artists and stores.  The steamboat print sweater is a second hand find from The Rat's Nest on 36th Street and right on trend for 2014.  My friend Melissa, who we showcased in this Wear Your Closet post, gifted me the beautiful cattle skull lanyard necklace which is perfect for laying over sweaters.  Also check out my rings from Custom, located on North Davidson Street.

Feel free to tag us on Facebook or Instagram in your colorful winter outfits and as always we hope you feel inspired!
