Style Your Little Black Dress Party: Re-Cap

Thank you to everyone who came!  We had an absolute blast!  Here are some memories from the night! XO

Angelic Attire for the Most Wonderful Time of Year

I think I've made my position pretty clear; I love styling with fur!  Layering with fur or faux fur brings a sense of allure to any old outfit.  For this holiday inspired ensemble I blended warm golds with winter white which made for a very enchanting Misha.  Photographed in front of a picturesque fall setting she looks nothing short of angelic!

I hope you are enjoying this wonderful season.  Thank you to everyone that made it out to our holiday party last weekend!  We're so grateful for all of the support!

Happy last minute shopping and may your holiday season be full of joy and authentic style ;)

Holiday Styling - It's Party Time!

 Snow White

& Mary Poppins

Happy Thanksgiving RoV Family!

Lauren and I wanted to provide a little holiday party styling inspiration as we approach the wonderful month of December.  Over the past year we each scored in a major way at the Junior League WearHouse; Lauren buying this beautiful, winter white, sparkly gown and me buying this full length, black velvet skirt.  We couldn't wait for our photo session as we glammed up and took to the outdoors where the temperature was a mild 35 degrees!

For Lauren's white and very fitted dress, I added a warm, furry vest and less formal booties.  Her vintage purple amulet was the perfect finishing touch as it really highlighted her new purple hair.  We thought this was a fun way to style the dress and dress it down a bit for a holiday party or dinner.  Taking off the vest, adding some stunner heels and some blinging earrings would be the perfect way to dress it up for a black tie NYE shindig.

For my velvet skirt, I wanted to dress it up and down as well.  My monkstrap brogues added just enough height so that the skirt skimmed the ground which I think makes a beautiful silhouette on full length skirts and dresses.  I could have also worn some sparkly flats or kitten heels.  I traded between my black fur stole and vintage leather jacket, both fun options and interchangeable depending on the event.  I added the gloves for a little Audrey Hepburn moment and I was definitely feeling her vibe!

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays!  We are so thankful for our fans and wish you all a very wonderful end to the year!

We hope to see you on 12/13/14 for our Holiday Party at Custom in NoDa!

Musician Styling - Camille Nolan

Camille's Rocking Concert Style

Camille Nolan asked RoV for a styling session to dress her for an  upcoming show at the Neighborhood Theatre and I was more than happy to oblige!  I pulled a beautiful slip dress she had just purchased from Buffalo Exchange and paired it with a pretty lace top belted at the middle.  The lace top adds nice dimension to the outfit with the layering and texture.  This is a perfect example of utilizing summer pieces in your Fall wardrobe.  The wool jacket that Camille purchased from Good Grief Vintage fits her perfectly which is very lucky when purchasing vintage.  It adds just enough structure to finish off her outfit!  Camille rocked it at the show but you'll have to excuse my semi-blurry images from my Iphone.

Congrats on the performance Camille!

Rubies on the Road - Old San Juan, PR

Welcome to the first installment of Rubies on the Road.  As soon as I started packing my bags for the trip to Old San Juan I was inspired to create this photo diary.  I knew the beautiful Puerto Rican architecture and bright colors would provide the perfect backdrop but what we found was so much more beautiful than I imagined.  I have to say a special Thank You to my sweet man Evan who booked this wonderful trip for us and obliged me by taking these awesome snaps of my outfits.

Below I've listed a few of our favorite restaurants, shops, hotels and scenic views to visit while in Old San Juan, PR which happens to be a quick 3 hour trip from Charlotte :)

  • El Convento Hotel - can't say enough about this beautiful retreat.  The location was once a thriving convent over 300 years ago but has been re-purposed several times and is now the perfect place to call home while visiting the City.
  • El Morro - the amazing and beautiful fort in Old San Juan which is over 500 years old!
  • Barrachina for delicious authentic Puerto Rican food including the famous mofongo
  • St. Germain for a mid-day glass of wine and personal pizza
  • Mezzanine - a rooftop bar with the most gracious waitstaff
  • LUCA - a small boutique off one of the cobblestone streets that carries a curated selection of clothing, accessories and bags made and designed for the most part by local Puerto Rican artisans
I will warn that Old San Juan can be a bit touristy in certain pockets but once you push through the crowds there are plenty of hidden treasures to explore to create your own personal escape even if it is for only a few days.  Hope you can make it there one day!
