Tips for Thrifting
- Even though most thrift stores categorize items according to size, always check the next size up and down. As we all know designers vary with their sizing so an item labeled Medium may be perfect for a person that typically wears a Small.
- Also, don't be afraid to purchase an item that may be too big or need some altering. If you're buying an item for $5, it may be worth another $5-$10 to make it fit just right!
- Don't buy items just because it's a steal if you already have the same or similar item in your closet.
- Think of friends or family when thrifting. If you see an item that would be perfect for a friend and it's only a few bucks, scoop it up and gift it. You know it will be appreciated plus it always feels good to give a present.
- Keep thrifting in mind for one time events like weddings, showers, interviews. Instead of splurging on a dress that you'll wear once, check out the local thrift stores to see what someone else has given up. Most dressy dresses at thrift stores are hardly worn.
- most importantly HAVE FUN!
