Gov Ball 2015 - What We Wore

Gov Ball 2015 was a weekend for the books.  In addition to finally getting to see one of my favorite artists, Florence + The Machine, perform, we saw ten plus additional amazing bands, dj's, rappers and performers over a three day weekend in the one and only New York City.  One thing we did A LOT of was walking, more walking, and walking again.  My feet may never be the same but I'm okay with it.  Music is everything and my number one favorite thing but fashion, as you may guess, is a close second.  In planning for the weekend, it was hard to determine what to bring to wear.  Dressing for an occasion helps define an experience for me so it was a balance between feeling good and looking good.

For one, I was thankful to have grabbed my tie-dyed beach sarong before I left the house.  It served as a blanket, poncho, umbrella and shawl over the course of the weekend but easily fit into my small backpack or locker in between those moments.  I advise keeping one on hand all summer.  They take little to no space in a bag but can be a life saver in a pinch.

I found those amazing pants last summer at the cutest little boutique House of Threads in the quaint mountain town Blue Ridge, GA.  They easily became a staple in my wardrobe from the second I made the purchase.  And the cute little jean top and tie-dyed dress came from the Nod & Rose pop-up in NoDa the week before.  It was perfect timing to say the least!

Also fashionably featured above are my sister Jill and friend Jennifer.  But our friend Holly won the MVP as she was about 5 months pregnant and not only didn't complain the entire weekend but rocked it out non-stop!  Go girls!

One thing I'll say, if you love music like me, you need to go to Gov Ball next year!  It was an absolute blast!

Gov Ball and the Non-Flower Crown Festival Flare

Matching Gold Clips
Corn Rows with a Flower Bun
Hats on Hats on Hats
Baseball Caps and Dino Suits
Supersize Me Fries
M-I-C-K-E-Y
DEADMAU5 Top Buns
Dickies Culottes

Don't get me wrong, I love a good flower crown but it was obvious at this year's Gov Ball there's more than one way to add a little flare to your ensemble this summer.  Minnie Mouse headbands, festival workers in culottes, banana suits, dino suits, hair fries and funky braids just to name a few.  Test one of them out at your next concert or back yard BBQ.

Amelia's "Basic" Jumper

Hi friends! I’m just going to pretend that we haven’t been MIA for the past five months (insert cheeky grin).

Meet Amelia! A southern belle who can plate a table like the best of them and serve a dish to match the décor while dancing barefoot with a glass of bourbon to Ginuwine’s Pony.  It’s like Martha Stewart plus Betty Draper plus Leslie Knope all in one beautiful blonde package.  I visited Amelia in her new city of residence, Dallas, TX, for a mini post-birth mommy’s night out.  While packing for our night out on the town she suggested we partake in a Rubies-on-Vanilla styling session.  So we took her basic green jumper and styled it three different ways showing how versatile a perfect “basic” can be in any wardrobe.

Paired with her “work” blazer, dressy heels and a statement necklace, the jumper is perfect for the workplace, a happy hour with friends or a date night with the hubs.  Dressed down a little with her long cardigan and flats, she can run errands or go on playdates with her babe, Knox, in style and comfort.  And finally paired perfectly for the state of Texas with cowboy boots and a beautiful shawl, handed down from her mother, Amelia’s ready to take on whatever the world throws her way.

It’s good to be back friends!  And we have more to share soon.  I hope this little styling session inspires you to pull out a basic and pair it with bold accessories, jackets, cardigans, shawls, scarfs and, of course, a take-me-as-I-am attitude!

Style Your Little Black Dress Party: Re-Cap

Thank you to everyone who came!  We had an absolute blast!  Here are some memories from the night! XO

Angelic Attire for the Most Wonderful Time of Year

I think I've made my position pretty clear; I love styling with fur!  Layering with fur or faux fur brings a sense of allure to any old outfit.  For this holiday inspired ensemble I blended warm golds with winter white which made for a very enchanting Misha.  Photographed in front of a picturesque fall setting she looks nothing short of angelic!

I hope you are enjoying this wonderful season.  Thank you to everyone that made it out to our holiday party last weekend!  We're so grateful for all of the support!

Happy last minute shopping and may your holiday season be full of joy and authentic style ;)

Holiday Styling - It's Party Time!

 Snow White

& Mary Poppins

Happy Thanksgiving RoV Family!

Lauren and I wanted to provide a little holiday party styling inspiration as we approach the wonderful month of December.  Over the past year we each scored in a major way at the Junior League WearHouse; Lauren buying this beautiful, winter white, sparkly gown and me buying this full length, black velvet skirt.  We couldn't wait for our photo session as we glammed up and took to the outdoors where the temperature was a mild 35 degrees!

For Lauren's white and very fitted dress, I added a warm, furry vest and less formal booties.  Her vintage purple amulet was the perfect finishing touch as it really highlighted her new purple hair.  We thought this was a fun way to style the dress and dress it down a bit for a holiday party or dinner.  Taking off the vest, adding some stunner heels and some blinging earrings would be the perfect way to dress it up for a black tie NYE shindig.

For my velvet skirt, I wanted to dress it up and down as well.  My monkstrap brogues added just enough height so that the skirt skimmed the ground which I think makes a beautiful silhouette on full length skirts and dresses.  I could have also worn some sparkly flats or kitten heels.  I traded between my black fur stole and vintage leather jacket, both fun options and interchangeable depending on the event.  I added the gloves for a little Audrey Hepburn moment and I was definitely feeling her vibe!

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays!  We are so thankful for our fans and wish you all a very wonderful end to the year!

We hope to see you on 12/13/14 for our Holiday Party at Custom in NoDa!
